Bekir has loved soccer since he was 5 years old, and always played with his brothers. His love of soccer continued into college, where he played for his college team. Later he played semi-professional in Aydin Spor in Turkey. He stopped playing in 1998 when he moved to New York. Bekir’s love of the game made him start his coaching education: he wanted to help inspire kids, and continue the game. He started working towards his coaching license through The U.S. Soccer Federation. He got his USSF “A” license in 2015. He coached in many different youth organizations like FC Westchester and New York Soccer Club. Now he is coaching at LMFC
Bekir has traveled all over the world, including Argentina, Uruguay, and Spain, to learn more about the game he loves, and to pass the knowledge to younger generations. He completed his “Soccer management and Scouting Course” in May 2019, through Sports Management Worldwide.
He has two beautiful girls, Tuana (14), and Dahlia (8). He lives in Mamaroneck, New York, with his wife Gulsah, and his daughters. He still plays the game that he loves on Sunday mornings with a group of friends.
