All of our professional head coaches hold either US Soccer Federation or National Soccer Coaches Association of America licenses.
The travel program is led by its Directors of Coaching: Ben Foster, Ben Scott and Simon McCarthy.
Ben Foster
Ben Foster is currently the director of coaching for Larchmont-Mamaroneck Football Club where he is responsible for program design, implementation and training. He has over 12 years experience including Westchester Regional Manager for NOGA Soccer and UK Elite and the former Head Coach of the Sleepy Hollow boys varsity team. He has also trained many boys and girls travel teams (u-8 to Varsity High School) as well as numerous summer and school holiday camps, after school programs and winter indoor training programs.
Ben Scott - LMFC Boys Director of Coaching.
From Leeds, England played Soccer, Cricket and Rugby to a good level within youth sports. Attended Leeds University graduating in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Sports, Health and Leisure with Media Studies. Moved to the US in 2005 to coach soccer in Westchester NY. Married to Amanda and have a son Luca; currently live in Ossining NY. USSF, NSCAA, FA and UEFA qualified coach. Coaching for 15 years, Coaching in the US for 12 years. I have coaches all levels from pre k 2/3 years olds Kindergarten through rec players. Travel/Premier teams at U8 through U18 and currently coach 3 of LMFC premier teams. Current PDP NYCSL center of excellence coach.
Simon McCarthy - LMFC Girls Director of Coaching
From Tralee in Co. Kerry, Ireland. Played Soccer, Basketball and Golf to a good level within youth and adult teams. Attended Institute of Technology, Tralee graduating with Honours in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Health, Leisure and Fitness Studies. Moved to the US in 2010 and have been working in the Larchmont & Mamaroneck area since. Engaged to Meghan and we currently reside in Pleasantville, NY. USSF, NSCAA, FAI and UEFA qualified coach.
Gisela Barreiro
Gisela Barreiro has loved and playing soccer since she was a little girl. Coming from Portugal, where soccer is the prominent sport, made soccer a part of her daily life. She loves working with children and seeing them grow as confident little humans. Working with Foster Soccer and LMFC gave her the opportunity to combine two passions: soccer and working with children. Gisela sees every kid as the individuals they are and works hard to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a fun time while learning to love the game and becoming the best soccer players they can be. She has prior experience working in Clube Atlético de Regueira de Pontes and Grupo Desportivo Carreirense, in Portugal. Gisela got her coach license from U.S. Soccer in 2019.
Nicole Auffarth
Born and raised in Larchmont. Attended Mount Saint Mary College, playing soccer as a starter for 4 years. She has traveled to Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Turkey and Spain to play soccer. She has been coaching for over 20 years and is the owner of Reccos Soccer. Niki is a coach, trainer and the first female referee in her community. Niki is also a preschool teacher and spends her free time making memories with her son, fiancé, friends and family. Niki's ultimate goal is to teach the kids all she knows about soccer while allowing them to have a fun childhood and grow to their best potential while supporting them in anyway she can.
Lloyd Powell
Originally from Jamaica, Lloyd has a a wife, Jennifer, and a daughter, Olivia. He has been coaching for twenty years. He loves coaching children. When asked about coaching for LMFC he shared "I am so very grateful and blessed for the opportunity given to me to coach something that I love and hold dear. Soccer is something that I hope, by teaching these kids, will have a life long impact on them and I hope to see all the kids I coach thrive to be the best they can be."
James Large
Completing his first coaching qualification in 2010 with the FA in England, James has since continued his coaching education with NSCAA, USSF & UEFA and has over 10 years of youth soccer coaching experience. James first started working in the towns of Larchmont & Mamaroneck as a youth soccer coach in 2013. In his time working with his teams, he has won the Westchester Youth Soccer League Coach of the Year Award and is now a full time, year round professional youth development coach for both LMFC & FosterSoccer.
Barry Conlon
Barry is a retired professional soccer player. He played in the English leagues for over 15 years, gaining international honors for his country, Ireland. He has coached for LMFC since moving to NY seven years ago. He looks forward to continue coaching for LMFC for the 2021 season.
Jay Brooke
Jay has been involved in soccer his whole life, from playing at a high youth level & academies in England to then starting his coaching career when he was 18. Jay has qualifications with the USSF, UEFA and also took a course in Scouting & Opposition Analysis. He first arrived in the U.S in 2015 with a Soccer coaching company in New Jersey. Since then he has coached players of all ages in many different clubs around NJ, NY & PA. He joined LMFC in 2019 and has enjoyed working for the club ever since. Jay's inspirations for the game come from Tony Pulis and Neil Warnock.
Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith played soccer at the club level in England and at the college level in USA. He also represents Jamaica on the international level at U17 & U20. Ryan has been working with kids for over 20 year teaching soccer at every level.
Sam Baron
Sam played since he was 5 years old and first started coaching when he was 17. In 2014 he completed a Bachelors degree in Sports Coaching from Leeds Metropolitan University whilst also earning a FA Level 1 and 2 badges in the process. He has worked as a coach in Hong Kong, Switzerland and England as well as 5 different states in the USA. Sam joined LMFC in Fall 2021.
Leon Bland
Leon has coached for LMFC & Foster Soccer since April 2022. He has 11 years of coaching experience starting at the age of 16 years old in the U.K. He started coaching as an assistant coach before taking on more coaching roles in the local community while he was studying for his degree. He has coached in 3 countries (U.K, US & Poland) experiencing different challenges & obstacles unique to each country. His coaching qualifications include the FA Level 2 Coaching License, FA Disabled Footballers Award & US Soccer qualifications at 7v7, 9v9 & 11v11.
