What is the Larchmont Mamaroneck Football Club (LMFC)?
In 2016, the Mamaroneck Junior Soccer League (MJSL) was renamed the LMFC. The Mamaroneck and Larchmont travel soccer programs were combined under this club and banner. The LMFC is a not-for-profit soccer club that competes in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL) and New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL). Our Travel Program consists of more than 60 teams made up of boys and girls primarily from the Mamaroneck and Rye Neck school districts.
What is the WYSL?
The WYSL is a league that consists of over 65 clubs from different communities in the Westchester area, of which the LMFC is one. http://wyslsoccer.org/
What are the ages for Travel soccer?
Age groups range kids born in 2015 and earlier.
When is the Travel soccer season?
In the fall and spring. The fall season typically starts the weekend after Labor day and ends in late November. The spring season typically starts in April and ends in late June. Many teams also play indoors during the winter.
When are practices?
Most teams practice twice per week, typically on weekday afternoons or evenings. Older teams also train on Saturdays.
When and where are games?
WYSL games take place on Sundays. Younger age groups typically play in the afternoon. Older age groups may play in the morning. In a typical 10-game season, half of the matches are home and half are away primarily in Westchester County.
Who should play Travel Soccer?
The Travel program is best suited for children that are more skilled, committed and highly interested in competitive soccer. We encourage parents to let their children decide whether or not to play Travel soccer; and to consider the LMFC’s or Larchmont Soccer Club’s (LSC) recreation programs if they are unsure of the required commitment.
When are tryouts?
In May for the following fall and spring seasons. Existing teams may sometimes hold special tryouts during the fall, winter and spring seasons.
How competitive is the tryout selection process?
Depending upon the age group, the player selection process can be highly competitive. The player selection process is based on independent evaluations from professional trainers. Players that do not make a travel team are encouraged to play in our community’s recreation program; and to tryout again in the future.
How much playing time will my child get in games?
This is determined by various factors, including skills, effort, attendance at practices and team needs. Players should still expect to play in every game.
Who coaches the LMFC travel teams?
Professional coaches lead practices and game. Parent volunteers assist with coaching and managing teams.
How much does it cost?
$1050 for the fall and spring seasons ($650 for high-school aged players for a fall mini-season and full spring season). Please see Travel Soccer Costs in this site for more information. Need-based financial aid and scholarships are available.
Who oversees the LMFC travel teams?
The LMFC Travel Committee and the Directors of Coaching. Each age-group has an Age Group Coordinator selected from the Travel Committee.
